I attended an auction held by East Tennessee Realty and Auction. I purchased a sold wood desk for $100.00. The auctioneer Gary Rutherford said I had 14 days to pick up my purchase and gave me his card so I could contact him to have someone meet me at the house when I was ready to pick it up. When I called him to schedule pick up, he said thank goodness. We have been wondering who purchased the desk. We lost the paperwork. I scheduled pick up and met a guy at the house at the said time. The desk was sitting outside in the breezeway between the house and garage. Someone had removed the drawers and carelessly put them on top of the desk scratching it all over the top. The problem I had other than the total disregard for a beautiful piece of furniture was no one seemed to care. When I contacted Gary Rutherford to advise him of the situation, he said well we offered to give you your money back. That seems fair to me. I did not want my money back, I wanted the desk I purchased in the condition I purchased it. No one wants to take responsibility anymore.
